New rims again!

Few days ago I've bought myself a pair of rims again.

This because i think 13" is to small for my car.

I think i keep the rare momo's, but for now its a 15" rim.

BBS RM025 15" 7.5J et19

It's all original, no aftermarket bolts/lips or stuff.

It came with brand new Vredestein Sportrac 3 tires.

Only need to expand the nave, because Its VW size 57,1 and i have 59.1. 

But thats not a problem.

Here already a test fit on the car!

(needs to come 1cm further in)

  

Update on topmounts!

Today i've been working on the topmounts again.

Today I made the part that holds the pillowball on its place when its in the topmount.

Here some inprogress photo's (sorry for crappy phone pics)

 

And its done!

On these pictures you can see how it needs to be.

I only need to drill the holes in both parts with M5 thread.

Then i can place the pillowball in the freezer to let it shrink just a bit, and I can drop it right into place.

And I use stainless M5x10 countersunk screws to secure the part up here to the main topmount part. 

Next time Ill update on the next parts!

Custom Topmounts with pillowball

Because we made my front topmounts a bit to fast, it is making annoying cracking noises now..

So i want to change that, by making custom pillowball topmounts.

I'm gonna make it all by myself with a lathe and milling machine.

Material i am using is Aluminium 7075 T6, also known as Aircraft aluminum.

Its a high strength aluminum and it is perfect to machine.

Using the best turning chisel, and some petroleum it will give a high gloss finish.

First I took some measurements and started working on the Autocad drawings.

After i've finished the drawings, i ordered all the materials, the 7075 aluminum

Then i ordered the pillowball, also known as rose joint.

Then i started working on the first 2 biggest pieces.

 Here i am turning the chuck on the right size, to grab the aluminum without damaging the piece

Next time I will show u guys the rest of the topmounts.

So far it is coming out fine!
